App smashing
Schoology is the hub for students to get information, utilize information, and then turn in their creations. Content specific apps can be utilized and then captured using the screenshot feature. Students can then use a whiteboard app to bring in those images and draw and type on top of them. Students can use apps like Explain Everything, iMovie, or Doceri to explain their thought process while looking at the images they created in the other apps. Finally, students can house all of these creations in a presentation tool like Keynote or Powerpoint.
App Smash 1 from Larson on Vimeo. |
In this app smash, the student downloaded a Keynote that had a question in it with the directions. The student used screen shots to capture images, Desmos to create tables and graphs, Doceri to import images from the camera roll and create a video of himself writing and talking about the images. Finally, he exported the video from Doceri to his camera roll and imported it into his Keynote where he added other images and text.
This is powerful to see and hear student understanding. It is necessary for them to learn iPad skills to complete such a high level task and Schoology plays its role as the hub to collect these creations. |
